Teltech Resource Network Corporation has announced the commercial release of its Web-based, vertical portals for technical and business professionals--Teltech. corn. In a separate announcement, the company reported that the service will also feature Web-based live events allowing users to interact in real time with leading technical, business, and industry experts on hot topics and trends. Called, the new service combines do-it-yourself research capabilities with human research assistance and knowledge sharing to provide users with fast, one-stop access to technology and business intelligence, according to Teltech.

According to the announcement, is the first Internet portal that integrates sources of published information, pre-selected Web content, and human knowledge sources to aid technical and business professionals in their research efforts. Its features include the following:

* A comprehensive collection of published technical and business information from leading content providers

* Access to top experts in more than 30,000 areas of science, technology, and business

* Thousands of pre-selected, high-value technical and business Web sites organized by industry

* A supplier home page that includes access to a complete directory of industry- and technology-specific buyers' guides

* Expert-hosted live events on hot technical and business topics and trends

* A monitoring service that scans the contents of more than 6,700 technical and business journals and automatically alerts the user to newly published stories on subjects of interest

* Late-breaking industry news with searchable archives

The do-it-yourself components of the offering are integrated with access to highly skilled analysts whom users can tap on demand for supplemental or more in-depth research support.

The launch follows 3 months of testing by Teltech clients. Feedback was gathered through phone interviews and written-response surveys of technical, business, and information professionals within a population of more than 3,200 beta service users. A principal conclusion drawn from test data was that the portal's combined breadth and depth of coverage, selection and organization of content by industry, and its blend of human assistance can reduce unproductive Internet search time by as much as 50 percent. …
