Microtech Unveils Automated Handler for CD-R Printing

Microtech Systems, a CD-R production systems maker, has announced the release of Image Autoprinter, an automated handler designed solely for CD-R printing needs. Based on the company's ImageAutomator, the ImageAutoprinter is a standalone system with PC, software, and handling robotics.

Currently the only automated printer capable of running two printers on each system, according to the company, ImageAutoprinter sells for a base price of $8,995. It features 200-disc capacity, includes the DiscPrint labeling capacity, includes the application, and can print in excess of 100 discs per hour.

Up to two Perfect Image monochrome or color Prisms, or Signature II or III printers may be added to the basic ImageAutoprinter. For those with a standard PR11 Perfect Image printer, a simple upgrade to the model PR13 or color Prism is all that is needed to run. All models of Signature printers are plug and play, according to the company.

Also optional is ImageAligner, a hardware/software mechanism that combines customized printed text with silk-screened graphics. ImageAligner uses an optical registration technique to identify the orientation of a disc as it enters the printer, which the company says always prints the text in the correct position. …
