BLDSC, SilverPlatter Partner to Provide Document Delivery

The British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) and SilverPlatter Information have announced a partnership to provide document delivery service in conjunction with SilverPlatter's bibliographic databases. Links to provide document delivery are a component of SilverLinker, SilverPlatter's new suite of linking technologies.

The British Library is one of the world's leading resources for scholarship, research, and innovation. Its Document Supply Centre currently subscribes to almost 50,000 journals, covering most countries, languages, and subjects. Articles can be ordered via a direct link in SilverPlatter's bibliographic records.

"The direct link from secondary to primary information answers the customer's need for seamless integration. SilverLinker access to premier document delivery services within a single search eliminates the need for duplicate searches to get to the full articles users want," said Jenny Walker, SilverPlatter's director of technology product management.

Researchers can order specific articles identified by searching SilverPlatter bibliographic databases directly from BLDSC. Documents are sent via first-class mail within 48 hours after the Centre receives the request. Documents can also be faxed. The services are available only to institutions that are registered with the BLDSC.
