Seniors Get Moving on Abuse of Social Security

Better watch out, Uncle Sam! The Seniors' Coalition Pork-Buster Patrol has your number. The nonprofit Washington-based advocacy organization with more than 3 million members has set out to identify and expose wasteful government spending and special-interest legislation that undermine the financial security of America's seniors.

The three-year program will center around a huge pink "Mobile Command Center" recreational vehicle, or RV, which is painted with some wild graphics and emblazoned with the slogan "Amount stolen from the Social Security Trust Fund. $840 billion." The RV, a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery 37V, was donated to the Seniors' Coalition by Fleetwood. The traveling command center will visit sites across the nation that represent the worst examples of wasteful government spending and harmful special-interest legislation. Its first stop is Washington.

The program's mission is to provide seniors with new weapons to stop pork-barrel spending that is destroying the Social Security Trust Fund and all those special-interest bills that force seniors to pay billions of dollars in unnecessary costs. …
