Net-savvy educators may already know The Math Forum as the home of Dr. Math, a feature that answers questions, from arithmetic to calculus, for thousands of curious or desperate students. But this Web site (hosted by Swarthmore College) also offers a broad range of additional resources for teachers and students of all levels.

For students, a variety of math-oriented activities includes weekly problems (spanning K-12), Internet treasure hunts, student-produced Web products, and ideas for science fair projects. A searchable archive of Dr. Math questions and answers may provide assistance or explanations for puzzled learners. If not, students may e-mail queries and receive answers from a university student within two days.

Unfortunately, the design of the site doesn't lend itself to browsing by the merely curious. Activities are presented almost exclusively in text, and students may need to dig through three or more layers to reach them. …
