Versaware, Inc. has announced the debut of eBookCity.com (http://www.ebookcity.com), an online electronic publishing portal that provides consumers and the professional publishing industry with diverse content, commerce, and communities. eBookCity. corn will feature MyLibrary, eReference Centers, eBookstore, Free Bookstore, and interest-based user communities. A full-service publishing service will be launched within a few months.

eBookCity's MyLibrary enables individuals to build, search, and organize personal multimedia-enhanced digital libraries, which can be maintained on the site and accessed at any time. Versabooks are traditional books, which can be rapidly transformed into multimedia-enhanced, "intelligent" electronic content. Both free books, obtained at the Free Bookstore, and Versabooks, which can be purchased at the eBookstore, can be placed immediately in MyLibrary. Versabooks can also be purchased from other online bookstores and placed in the user's personal library on eBookCity.com. Users have the option to view Versabooks immediately or download them to their PCs for viewing off-line.

Round-the-clock access to an encyclopedia and dictionary are standard free components of MyLibrary. Users can organize, create shelves for their e-books, and search one book, a shelf of books, or all books simultaneously without having to download any software or plug-ins. For more enhanced features, Versaware's Library Builder software can be downloaded to computers so users can design binders of customizable information, create hyperlinks to live Web sites, and import information from sites to make it searchable.

The eReference Center on eBookCity. corn includes an Interactive Center, an educational playground for children and adults, and the eReference Center for information and news. The Interactive Center allow visitors to travel to an art museum, listen to classical music in a concert hall, or time travel through the history of technology.
