BNA Chooses Verity for Its Web-Based Publishing Platform

Verity, Inc., a provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, has announced that the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. (BNA), a publisher of print and electronic news and information, is developing its new Web-based publishing platform using the Verity K2 Toolkit. For BNA, the Verity K2 Toolkit is providing a robust infrastructure that supports simple and complex information requests across multiple knowledgebases, helping customers find information from a variety of sources more quickly and easily. In addition, the Verity development platform is enabling the integration of Vignette's StoryServer and the Oracle 8i database into BNA's comprehensive solution, providing the "glue" necessary in constructing complex online publishing sites.

BNA provides in-depth reporting on public policy and regulatory developments in such fields as business, labor relations, law, health care, economics, taxation, environmental protection, and health and safety. With the growing popularity of the Web, BNA chose Verity's solution so that customers using the BNA Web site (http://www.bna.com) will be able to access reports and news, as well as learn about new products and purchase subscriptions.

"The growth and popularity of the Internet has made it necessary for us to build a new Web-based publishing platform for the delivery of our products electronically," said Greg Wolff, senior systems architect at BNA. "We looked at a number of knowledge retrieval solutions and found that Verity offered ease of use for individuals wanting accurate information quickly, and a highly advanced solution for deploying text-retrieval applications that deliver speed and precision, scalability, and application integration features."

According to the announcement, Verity technology is making it possible for BNA to build multiple information collections and create highly structured knowledge environments.
