EOS International Unveils New Report Writer for Q Series System

Electronic Online Systems (EOS) International has announced the release of Report Writer for its Q Series library information management and access system. The Q Series Report Writer includes a single-user licensed copy of Seagate Software's Crystal Reports as well as a complete detailed manual of tables, columns, and descriptors of the Q Series data fields. Libraries will be able to produce their own custom reports in addition to the many standard reports already provided in the Q Series system.

The Report Writer's user manual has been designed to assist Q Series users in extracting field-level information from the Q Series database. It also includes a list of the existing Q Series reports that can be used as templates for creating custom reports.

According to the announcement, Crystal Reports is the engine that enables users to create, modify, and run ad hoc reports. Clients are not limited to Crystal Reports, however, and may use any third-party GUI (graphical user interface) report writer, provided that it generates Structured Query Language or SQL-compliant requests.

"The Q Series Report Writer was developed in response to our clients' requests to be able to customize printed output from the Q Series. The detailed technical specifications that are provided, along with the off-the-shelf report writer, give the user more power and flexibility," said Scot Cheatham, president and CEO of EOS International.

EOS International provides consulting services to assist novice users through the process of creating or modifying a report, or to assist proficient users with more technical-level options such as creating "table joins" or writing stored procedures to pre-process data, among other functions. …
