PEOPLE ON THE MOVE WITHIN THE INDUSTRY

Access Innovations, Inc., the parent company of the National Information Center for Educational Media (NICEM), has announced that Dennis Auld has been named president of NICEM. Previously the 20-year industry veteran consulted with Access Innovations in building a business plan for the organization's e-commerce venture e-NICEM.COM, according to the announcement.

Prior to joining Access Innovations, he was a consultant in the field of electronic publishing and database management after serving as senior consultant of PsycINFO, a division of the American Psychological Association. Formerly Auld held the position of senior director of PsycINFO. Prior to joining PsycINFO in 1990, he was president of UMI/Data Courier. Auld was a co-founder of the ABI/INFORM database, and also directed the development of the Business Dateline database, both currently Bell & Howell Information and Learning products.

He has served with a number of information industry organizations in various capacities, including president of the Association of Information and Dissemination Centers (ASIDIC); president of the National Federation of Abstracting and Information Services (NFAIS); chair of the Marketing Sub-Committee, International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI); a member of the joint NFAIS/AAP-PSP working group; and a member of the Publishing and Small Business Committee of the Information Industry Association (IIA). Auld has served as program chair for several NFAIS and ASIDIC conferences.

He has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Oregon and a master's of business administration degree from Portland State University.

Reed Elsevier plc has announced the appointment of Martin Tanke as the president and CEO of Engineering Information, Inc. (Ei).

Tanke previously held the position of publishing director of the Fundamental Life Sciences department of Elsevier Science, located in Amsterdam. He joined Elsevier Science in 1982 and has been involved in several strategic projects for the company, including participation in the early design of ScienceDirect. He has over 15 years of publishing experience, having held a variety of editorial and management positions at Elsevier Science.

Tanke is a graduate of State University Utrecht in the Netherlands where he studied geology.

Inmagic, Inc., a developer of library automation and information management software, has announced that Lynda Moulton has been appointed director of integrated library systems.

Moulton is the founder and former president of Comstow Information Services, Inc., from which Inmagic recently acquired the integrated library system BiblioTech PRO. Trained as a special librarian, she has taught library science on the graduate level and published numerous articles on the automation aspects of information management. Before founding Comstow in 1980, she held positions at a number of academic and corporate libraries.

The American Society for Information Science (ASIS) has announced that Peter Jacso is the winner of the ASIS Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award. …
