Honoring: AMERICAN FORESTS' life member Bob Timberlake, by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton for his painting of the White House with a decorated Christmas tree, which will be included in the White House 2000 calendar. Timberlake's images of trees and other subjects will be displayed at Hammer Galleries in New York from Dec. 7 through Jan. 11.

Former AMERICAN FORESTs board member Susan Flader, for her election as Fellow to the Forest History Society. A scholar of Aldo Leopold and prolific author of forest history, Flader served on the Society's board of directors from 1972 through 1983 and from 1995 to 1998. AMERICAN FORESTS honored her work with its John Aston Warder medal in 1995.

Former Forest History Society executive and forest historian Harold K. "Pete" Steen, awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations. The award honors individuals whose work substantially contributes to furthering IUFRO's scientific, technical, and organizational goals. Steen received AMERICAN FORESTS' Distinguished Service Award in 1995. …
