Leo Campbell, managing director of Claydon Heeley International, was a school drop-out who, before joining Claydon Heeley, was a property and manufacturing entrepreneur. He joined the agency shortly after its launch to handle new business development. It has grown from six employees to 160 and last year was sold to Omnicom for [pounds]21m.

For many, ink colour is an irrelevancy providing it materialises on to the paper. But not as far as this writer is concerned, for the chances are he pays close attention to the importance of such matters. His apparently careless handwriting conceals a stickler for detail and nuance. This is a man who expects, and rejects anything less than, absolute quality.

The extremely narrow left-hand margin points to directness of approach and the clever, angular formations reveals his critical faculties to be very sharp. (Am I to be known as the Kamikaze graphologist from this day forth?) There is a sort of laissez faire attitude in this writing, which is an interesting reflection of the writer's attitude toward the world in general. …
