Sky One Poaches Chief from ITV to Build Brand

BSkyB has poached a senior ITV executive to be the new general manager of its Sky One channel.

David Bergg is currently director of planning and strategy at ITV Network, where he has worked closely with ITV's director of programmes, David Liddiment, on current and future scheduling.

In his new role, Bergg will act as channel controller of Sky One and will be responsible for building on the brand's consumer proposition and subscriber management.

His starting date at BSkyB has yet to be confirmed, but Bergg will report to Mark Sharman, director of broadcasting at Sky Networks, which is the programming arm of BSkyB.

Bergg replaces James Baker, who has moved on to run Sky's twin production arms, Sky Pictures and Sky Productions.

Bergg's appointment completes a new management structure at Sky Networks.

Sharman leads the broadcasting team with Nick Pollard (Sky News), Paul Taylor (Sky Movies) and Bergg operating as general managers. …
