ASTD to Change Its Membership Offerings to Better Meet Member Needs

Technology. Globalization. Knowledge management. Human performance improvement. These and many other influences are changing the training and development profession. And, because the profession is changing, ASTD must change as well. As part of this change, ASTD is working on a new benefits package that will provide members with greater access to a wide range of services.

"We live in a time in which change is being driven by technology. Trends research tells us our whole world is being transformed by a global revolution revolving around information, ideas, and innovation. This revolution is changing the way we work, communicate, and live," says Greta Kotler, general manager and vice president, Knowledge & Information of ASTD. "Therefore, ASTD is changing its membership offering in order to maximize the power and performance of ASTD members so they can create a better future for both their organizations and the workforces within those organizations.

"In looking at how to improve the membership offering, ASTD will be focusing on its core competency in terms of the knowledge that no organization but ASTD can provide, such as trends research," says Kotler. …
