Readers Haven't Got Their Fill of Bashing Bill

Several surveys indicate that readers and viewers have had it with political scandals, and some show that the public is just plain bored with politics in general. Maybe that speaks for the bulk of folks who aren't too busy to talk to pollsters, but it doesn't Seem representative of Insight readers -- who, by very virtue of subscribing, demonstrate interests beyond the soaps and sitcoms. An abiding interest seems to be bashing President Clinton.

Among many indicators is a note forwarded by reader Patrick Orlando of Linwood, N.J., mentioning a contest being held on the Jayne Carroll Show, a talk-radio production out of Portland, Ore. Carroll asked her audience to provide what might become "official names" for the new Clinton residence in New York state, a $1.7 million pad in Chappaqua.

About 100 suggested names came in, many of them offered several times. They included: "Liar's Lair" "Perjurers' Palace" "Sin Simeon," "The Blight House" and "Motel Sex." And then there was the winner: "Disgraceland. …
