Video Networks, which claims to be Europe's first commercial video-on-demand service, is to launch a fast internet service on Homechoice, its UK division, from next month.

Subscribers will be able to access the internet 40 times faster than by using a conventional line, as Homechoice services are delivered over BT's ADSL high speed interactive network.

Homechoice, whose expansion is dependent on the rollout of BT's ADSL network, is currently available in North London, where it has 600 subscribers. They pay between [pounds]5.99 and [pounds]12.99 a month, on top of a [pounds]40 set-top box installation fee, for a range of TV programmes, videos and films on demand.

The service will roll out to the rest of London within the next few months and it plans to have 70,000 subscribers by the end of this year.

Its current poster and local newspaper campaign will be extended to cinema and TV, with creative work by Duck-worth Finn Grubb Waters and media through Motive. …
