Regents College Teams with Johns Hopkins to Create Virtual Library

Regents College has announced that it has joined forces with the Sheridan Libraries at Johns Hopkins University to create the Regents College Virtual Library (RCVL), an online library and information service customized to meet the needs of Regents College students and faculty. The services provided in the RCVL are designed to act as the electronic equivalent of core services found in traditional libraries.

The RCVL includes electronic reference materials, reference librarian services via e-mail or toll-free telephone, online bibliographic databases, Web-based general and discipline-specific reading rooms, and instructional information on the use of all the Regents College Virtual Library services. In addition, special services will also become available to students on a per-use fee basis. Included among these are home delivery of print-based materials and personalized research services.

"This is one of the most important and exciting benefits that we have been able to offer our students," said C. Wayne Williams, president of Regents College. "Our students attach great importance to the flexibility of our degree programs. The addition of library services that are accessible from virtually any comer of the globe, at any hour of the day, means that our students will have highly valuable information resources available at their fingertips whenever they need them. …
