Sacker, founder and director of HEED (Helping to End Eating Disorders), eight out of 10 10-year-old girls claim to be on a diet, 77 percent of female adolescents wish to lose weight, while 55 percent of adolescent males want to gain weight. Sacker says the average weight of men and women ages 25-30 has increased by 10 pounds in the last seven years.
