The delayed Fall 1999 Arbitron listings are finally out, and KMOX can still lay undisputed claim to the market's number one slot. The market's news/talker delivered a 10.5 share of 12 plus listeners Monday-Sunday 6 a.m. to midnight, with a comfortable lead over WIL's 7.2 at number two. But there's more to the story than this.

KMOX is down from a year ago by a half point. WIL is up slightly. The KMOX numbers have fallen with every book WIL is erratic. KEZK is in third place with 6.5, followed by Clear Channel's combo, KMJM 5.5 and KATZ-FM 5.2.

Looking at trends over the past year, KATZ-FM listenership has increased by nearly 40 percent, KIHT is up 29 percent, KLOU is down 17 percent, KMJM is down 19 percent, KSHE is off 20 percent, KXOK is down 37 percent, WKKX is up 18 percent, WRTH is down 18 percent and WVRV has dropped 29 percent.
