Evans Hunt Scott Axes M&G in Row over Price

Evans Hunt Scott (EHS) has ended its relationship with financial services company M&G, after only a year, following a dispute over cost.

EHS, which handles all of M&G's advertising and direct marketing, said it resigned the [pounds]5m account because M&G was attempting to reduce payment for work.

Terry Hunt, chairman of EHS, said: "During a contract review M&G decided to seriously reduce the fee for the same amount of work. We said that we can't work the account at a loss and are in the process of handing over projects."

Gary Shaughnessy, M&G's marketing director, was abroad and unavailable for comment as Marketing went to press.

However, an M&G spokeswoman confirmed that Shaughnessy is looking for another agency following a split with EHS. She said: "We are reviewing the way we work with agencies."

Shaughnessy joined M&G last July from Axa, where he was also marketing director. EHS was appointed by M&G in February last year by former marketing chief, Rachel Medill. …
