Direct marketing outfit Evans Hunt Scott is merging with web consultancy, Real Time. The move is in response to the surge in demand for online marketing activity and clients seeking more integrated customer relationship marketing programmes across traditional and digital media.

Called ehs:realtime, the new agency will have combined revenues of [pounds]63m with expertise in a variety of disciplines covering relationship marketing, media planning, internet consultancy and web design. The merger comes at a time when traditional direct mail activity is being challenged by the internet as a targeted direct response medium.

The combined client list of Ehs:realtime's will cover a number of high-profile blue chips including Centrica, Tesco, BMW, UDV, Motorola, KLM Buzz, Canon and fashion brand Diesel. It will be wholly- owned by advertising group Havas which owns both Real Time and EHS.

The new agency, headed by chairman Terry Hunt, will have a staff of around 300 -- approximately 195 from EHS and 105 from Real Time. Phil Jones, currently managing director of Real Time, becomes vice chairman of the new company. Andrew Harris and Louise Wall will be chief executive and managing director respectively. …
