Why did you leave Canal+to join cityjobs.com?

I was determined to accept the challenge of branding and marketing an original, well planned dotcom concept.

I was impressed with the existing management structure.

It is always a big step from a corporate to a minor company, but I feel sure that this may not be the case for long.

What are the challenges Cityjobs.com faces in its sector?

Trying to extend 24-hour days and seven-day weeks to be able to cope with the range of exciting partnership deals and ventures that we are embarking upon currently.

The nation is becoming more and more internet aware, and obviously this has now spread to the HR sector, with employers becoming increasingly concerned over the cost, and length of time, it takes to hire people. Obviously a company such as Cityjobs.com can (a) save the company a fortune per annum (b) completely speed up the process by at least 50-60%.

What do you enjoy least about your working environment?

Presently we are dreadfully overcrowded in our Waterloo offices, but we look forward to the wonderful river views at our new, large, offices in Vauxhall, although I doubt we will ever have time to enjoy them.

What do you enjoy most about your working environment?

I love the dotcom working environment because of the speed and pace of change, and the fact that decision making is almost gut-feel instant, rather than a process of weeks and weeks of board meetings and decision processes. …
