The life, vitality and well being of people depend to a great extent on their diet. What you eat, and how you eat it, will ultimately determine the quality of your life. The search for better and healthier diets has now become a matter of primary concern. More and more people are now turning from animal fats to vegetable oils as a cooking medium, with Canola oil gaining popularity.

Canola oil has been a recent introduction in cooking oils in Pakistan, and needs an in-depth analysis of its beneficial effects on our diet and health. The health value of Canola oil is being brought to light and is therefore being preferred by many health professionals. Developed in Canada, it is also produced and grown in other parts of the world, including Pakistan.

A recent study showed that men and women who ate a diet rich in Canola oil had significantly fewer heart attacks and cardiac deaths than men and women who ate normal diets. The most important factor that has been brought to light, as a result of this research, is that the regular use of Canola oil may reduce the risk of cancer. The dreaded disease can be caused by many factors, both external such as exposure to pollutants, and internal, as in the damage to cellular DNA caused by free radicals (reactive oxygen molecules). The human body has natural defenses against most concern but it is important to fortify these defenses by eating the right diet; a diet rich in Canola oil.

Canola oil has the best nutritional profile - one low in saturated fat, and a source of omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. The term omega refers to the chemical structure of the fatty acid. …
