If I was looking to buy a school bus with oomph, then based on this mailer through Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray, the Sharan would be on my list. I liked the way it was clearly targeted at fathers who, 'boys at heart', like their toys.

I can imagine talking for hours to my mates about my Sharan -- you know, the power of the V6 engine or the six speed manual gearbox.

I do not really pay too much attention to unsolicited mailings and tend to read the first paragraph of the letter, establish what they are trying to sell and bin it if it doesn't strike a chord.

In this case, I did give it a second chance, possibly because it was from a brand I admired, but also because it talked to me as a human being.

The first words in the letter were 'Sticky finger marks, crumpled sweet wrappers, a forgotten toy'.

A bit over-polite, but I could instantly empathise with this. …
