ASTD to Pilot Global Networks

ASTD is piloting a structure that will enable ASTD members from outside of the United States to convene in much the same way as U.S. members do in local chapters. The structure, to be called Global Networks, will provide a framework for member networking and affiliation with ASTD. The pilot project will involve the establishment of four to six Global Networks that will respond to interest among ASTD members outside of the United States for

* local structures that offer opportunities to convene and network under the ASTD name

* a mechanism for HRD professionals to meet and learn from each other in countries where professional associations in training and development don't exist

* the exchange of knowledge, resources, and perspectives among international and U.S.-based ASTD members.

In creating the pilot Global Networks, ASTD will seek to learn more about what kinds of models work best to meet the needs of members outside of the United States. The networks are not intended as a forum for selling products or services, promoting individual consulting services, or creating business activities unrelated to ASTD's mission. …
