Halifax [Pound]25m Ad Task Goes to Delaney Lund

Halifax has awarded its [pound]25m creative advertising account to Delaney Lund Knox Warren after a five-way pitch lasting nine weeks.

Delaney Lund beat competition from Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R,FCA and Ogilvy & Mather, as well as incumbent agency Bates UK, which now retains only below-the-line work for the bank, The pitch process was co-ordinated by Agency Insight.

Bates' direct marketing agency, 141, is unaffected by the decision and Zenith will continue to handle the bank's media buying.

Philip Hanson, marketing general manager at Halifax, said: "We have had a long and fruitful relationship with Bates UK, which will continue below the line. We are looking forward to developing an equally successful partnership with Delaney Lund as we continue to drive growth in the Halifax brand."

Greg Delaney, chairman of Delaney Lund Knox Warren, declined to disclose details of the agency's new creative theme for the Halifax brand, but said that a TV and press campaign would break early in the new year. …
