Abbey National E-Banking Ad Aims for Modern Image

Alan Davies stars in Abbey National's ad once again as it highlights its e-banking service.

The latest ad offering from Abbey National has entered Adwatch at number 18 with 40% recall.

Continuing in the 'life's complicated enough' theme starring comic actor Alan Davies, the new ad highlights AbbeyNational's e-banking facilities, available through digital TV.

Created by Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, the ad opens with a shot of Davies sitting comfortably in his living room armchair, with TV remote in hand.

His girlfriend is on the phone in the kitchen, moaning to a friend about the fact that Davies is "slumped in front of the telly, as usual". She says that at least he's joined the gym, has given up fatty foods and alcohol.

Davies mimics his girlfriend's whinging, and it turns out that he is actually accessing his bank through Open. On a voiceover he explains that with Abbey National he can get into his bank account and check his balance whenever he likes. Once he has finished checking his account, he announces that he has go out to the bank -- but secretly pops down to local pub, The Bank. …
