Middle East: The Security Council on 31 May unanimously extended the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) by six months, until 30 November 2000.

Cyprus: The Security Council on 14 June extended the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for another six months, until 14 December 2000.

Former Yugoslavia: The Security Council on 21 June approved a one-year extension of the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH), which includes the International Police Task Force. By a vote of 14, with 1 abstention (Russia), the Council also authorized Member States to continue for another 42 months the multinational stabilization force (SFOR), established in 1996.

Western Sahara: On 31 May, the Security Council extended, by a vote of 12 to 1 (Namibia), with 2 abstentions (Jamaica and Mali), the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in the Western Sahara (MINURSO) through July 2000.

Iraq: The Security Council on 8 June extended the United Nations "oil-for-food programme" for Iraq for another six months. Since the programme's inception non m December 1996, more than 10 million tonnes of foodstuffs and $904 million of medicine and health supplies have been delivered to Iraq, as well as over $1 billion worth of supplies for sectors, including water/sanitation, education and the oil industry. …
