Magazine article Information Today's Site Source Chosen by SIRSI for iBistro

Site Source, an online, searchable database of MARC-format-cataloged Web sites, currently contains more than 12,000 records; new sites are being cataloged at a rate of about 2,000 per month.

SIRSI's iBistro was designed to help library users personalize Web searches and master the broadening information available via the Internet. In addition to accessing Site Source, iBistro users may search the Northern Light research Web search, selected Z39.50 library catalogs, and other digital libraries and online databases.

iBistro also enables library catalog users to view book reviews, tables of contents, jacket images, synopses, annotations, and author notes. iBistro includes a special personalization package called MyBistro that features individual preference profiles so users can set their own searching and interest preferences, receive customized lists of new titles, review their accounts, place holds, and renew materials.

"Site Source is one of LibraryHQ's most popular features for librarians, and we're very pleased that SIRSI wanted to bring it to a wider audience by including it in iBistro," said Katharine Garstka, manager of LibraryHQ. …
