NACM Meets with President Clinton

NACM Chairman of the Board Jack Clark, CCE and NACM President Paul J. Mignini, Jr., CAE, were invited to a reception at the home of Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) to meet with President Bill Clinton and discuss issues of importance to the association. Also attending the gathering at the Congresswoman's home in Washington, D.C. were members of the Congressional delegations from Maryland, Florida, New York, California, and Virginia.

Among the issues that Jack and Paul discussed during the course of the evening were public policy considerations that have been identified by NACM Government Affairs Committee as items of pressing need for the trade credit community. In particular, Jack and Paul raised the need for a bankruptcy reform bill before the end of the year, clarification of proposed changes to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and a greater understanding of the nature of trade credit in an "e-commerce" environment. With respect to the bankruptcy bill, Jack and Paul especially stressed the need to provide trade credit grantors with assistance on reclamation, preferences, and small business reorganizations.
