The director-star of Just One Time gets in touch with his feminine side

He's the year 2000 answer to Orson Welles: Lane Janger not only stars in the droll new pansexual comedy Just One Time, he also directed and coproduced it and cowrote the script. Developed from a short film of the same name, Janger's film focuses on straight, macho fireman Anthony (Janger), who pressures his fiancee to fulfill his fantasy that she have sex with another woman "just one time." She agrees--but only if he'll sleep with another man. Enter an exuberant gay youth (Guillermo Diaz) and an earthy lesbian (Jennifer Esposito), evidently ready to pair off with the straight lovers as needed.

The film is set in New York City, where the Los Angeles-raised Janger has lived for the past 12 years. An indie film veteran, he produced the award-winning indie I Like It Like That (1994) and the gay bonbon I Think I Do (1997). His next production will be the twins he and his partner are expecting this fall, via a surrogate mother.

1 How did you relate to the selfish side of your character, Anthony?

Everyone has a fantasy, and some people don't openly talk to their lovers about it. I don't think Anthony is selfish, just honest about his fantasy.
