Council of Graduate Schools Co-sponsors Program to Prepare Faculty Members

To the Editor:

I was pleased to read your new publication, Matrix. Very smart looking and interesting content. The article "AAC&U Nutures Liberal Education" by Nicole Rivard contains an oversight I hope you will clarify in a future issue.

Since 1993, the Preparing Future Faculty program (described on page 132, June 2000) has been co-sponsored by AAC&U and the Council of Graduate Schools. This unique collaboration between two higher-education associations is important to the success of the program (faculty from more 295 colleges and universities are now participating in reshaping the preparation of the next generation of faculty).

Reader Offers Advice

To the Editor,

Overall, I found Matrix to have a lot of good information. The articles were especially well written and relevant. I, however, was annoyed by most of the "News" sections, especially "Colleagues." These seemed more appropriate for a professional organization's newsletter than a national publication.

Please tighten your focus and stick with higher education, technology, and research-related issues. You have a potentially strong magazine.

In addition, I highly recommend that you set up a complementary Web site.
