Rear Admiral Peter A.C. Long, United States Navy, has been named president of Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Pennsylvania. He succeeded president Rear Admiral Virgil L. Hill, Jr., United States Navy (retired) who recently announced his retirement.

Long comes to VFMA & C with more than 30 years of experience in the military, first as a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and later as a Naval Commander. This included many sea assignments and significant naval shore assignments, culminating in his current position as provost of the Naval War College.

He earned a Master's of Science in personnel management from the Naval Postgraduate School and holds a Ph.D. in learning technology from Nova-Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The New Jersey Council of County Colleges honored Mary Wall, Atlantic Cape Community College's dean of academic computing and distance education, with the Community College Spirit Award. The Community College Spirit Award is an honor bestowed on those who have helped advance the community college movement. Honorees embody community college spirit, perseverance, dedication, and excellence.

She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the College of New Rochelle, N.Y., a master's in student personnel services from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, Glassboro, N.J., a master's in business administration from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, N.J., and a doctorate in computer technology in education from Nova-Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. …
