Daimler-Chrysler BBDO Deal to Hit UK Agencies

Daimler- Chrysler's [pound]15m UK media business, currently held by BJK&E in the UK, is likely to move to a BBDO media agency, following the US car giant's decision to hand its entire $1.5bn ([pound]1bn) creative account to BBDO.

New PHD and OMD are in the running to pick up the business, which includes work for brands including the Jeep Cherokee.

Banks Hoggins O'Shea/FCB is also set to lose the [pound]8m Jeep and Chrysler accounts, currently held by FCB Worldwide, following the decision.

Banks Hoggins' UK work for the company is primarily composed of press activity, with some poster and TV ads for brands including the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler, Chrysler PT Cruiser and Neon. The agency declined to comment as Marketing went to press.

The Mercedes-Benz UK business, held by Partners BDDH and Maher Bird Associates, will not be affected.

To divert a potential clash with Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO's [pound]20m work for Volvo, BBDO is reported to be planning to create a separate creative agency, Penta-Mark Worldwide.
