Buddy Miller--solo artist and sideman to Emmylou Harris--is a unique guitarist who plays a very unique electric guitar. His Wandre was built by an Italian artist and motorcycle enthusiast in the early '60s named Wandre Pelotti.

The guitar's hollow body--which, according to Miller, needs a certain amount of super glue every year to keep together--seems to be Formica. The rosewood fretboard is attached to a plastic-covered aluminum neck that is mounted to the top of the body and extends all the way to the vibrato tailpiece. Miller feels that having the peghead, neck, bridge, and tailpiece coupled to the same piece of aluminum contributes to the guitar's unusual tone. The bridge looks like an up side down Tune-o-matic, and the saddles are actually small loops that the strings pass through. The three Davoli pickups are mounted into a plastic pickguard, which floats between the strings and the body. …
