Keeping Up With Mr. Jones

Wondering just what rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard is on? Well, he's not only on the charts (currently in the top five), but he's also been on the lam since escaping from a drug-rehab center back in October. Despite outstanding warrants for everything from possession of crack cocaine to a moving violation, ODB has eluded cops even while emerging from hiding for brief appearances. Two weeks ago he took the stage at a Wu-Tang Clan record-release party vowing to live on "birdseed" if necessary in order to stay free. He should have stuck to that plan. Last week authorities finally caught up with the fugitive, arresting him at a McDonald's in Philadelphia. Ol' Dirty Bastard, who has also gone by names as varied as Russell Jones and Big Baby Jesus, was eating and reportedly signing autographs when Officer Rebecca Anderson recognized him. He will be held without bail until a hearing this week. Guess it wasn't a happy meal.

Not Going His Way

We all know that just because one black male pop star was arrested, that doesn't mean all black male pop stars look suspicious. But we aren't the Miami Beach police. On Nov. 24 cops detained singer Lenny Kravitz, mistaking him for a bank robber. The star was walking with his personal trainer when cops handcuffed him. "My trainer tried to tell them who I was, not that it mattered," said Kravitz. "I was in sweats and had no ID with me. They said they were looking for a black with an Afro and a beard. …
