Data Downlink Corp. has announced the release of its new directory, The Best of the Business Web. The publication is a condensed, bound representation of Portal B (http://www.portalb.com), the company's business-information portal.

Portal B combines hand-edited, Web-based information with access to premium content from more than 70 databases. The Best of the Business Web features selections by the Portal B team of Web editors, and catalogs 10,000 of the Web's most substantive business sites.

"The critical difference between Portal B and the consumer-oriented Web portals is our unique taxonomy, specific to business," said Steven Goldstein, CEO of Data Downlink. "Our new directory highlights and explains both our selection and our indexing methodology as well as guides business-information consumers to the best possible sites. Portal B users are able to search these sites and sort their results based upon our taxonomy, thereby finding relevant information with precision and accuracy."

In addition to providing a condensed version of the Portal B database, the editors have also added a smaller group of sites. Those sites carry a significant volume of quality information that offer useful, simple, and well-organized sources of business data, according to the announcement. This select group is listed under the heading of Editors' Picks and is located at the end of each of the directory's sections. The Editors' Picks contain detailed abstracts for each selection, noting subject matter, identifying the publisher, and cataloging the sites by industry and geography.
