Citrus Links Up with EC1 Media in iTV Deal

Contract publishing agency Citrus has formed a strategic alliance with interactive digital production company EC1 Media to enable clients such as Ford and English Heritage to move their magazine content on to interactive TV.

The alliance will see Citrus contribute areas of its expertise, including marketing strategy, content management and developing print publications into online publications, in return for EC1 Media's knowledge of interactive digital TV production.

According to Citrus managing director Simon Chappell, the agreement will provide Citrus clients with additional channels and new technologies to communicate with their customers. "If Ford, for example, wanted to create a magazine online it could have a video-stream through it. In future we will also be able to extend customer magazines on to interactive TV.'

The agreement with EC1. Media follows Citrus' move into new media publishing, with 16 of its 18 current print clients expanding their consumer strategies onto the internet. For example, Citrus recently launched a 500-page pet insurance web site for Royal & SunAlliance, for which it also produces a printed magazine. …
