Simon Hall was a founder and the first managing director of Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray (now BHWG Proximity). He began his career with DDM Advertising in 1986. At 28 he became managing director of the agency, whose key clients included BA and Ford. Simon left to establish BHWG in 1991. He is a fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing.

Confronted, as this writer was, by a sheet of unlined A4 as the arena for potential action, the choice was his-and what did he give me? Not a lot (and judging by the change of ink colour someone had to go back to get him to do a signaturel).

Some folk who give a very small writing donation do it out of caution tinged with trepidation, but not this chap. He (a) did exactly what he was asked to do (no more, no less); (b) didn't care that much anyway as doing this was not a priority; (c) doesn't really believe in graphology as an assessment tool; and (d) doesn't care to be categorised anyway.

He's particularly literate, zany and rather off-the-wall. …
