Big Brother was a hit programme for Channel 4 this year. A group of strangers were brought together to live in a house, with viewers voting at intervals on who should be cast out. The winner was the one who lasted longest.

Breathe, the mobile and internet service provider, launched a Big Brother WAP site, run by Poulternet, at the height of public interest in the programme.

It offered a number of services, including WAP biographies of all the contestants, a competition to win [pound]10,000 for predicting all the nominations, evictions and the final winner, and a chance to vote for a favourite personality.

The site, which has now closed, was quoted on Radio 4 as being the UK's second-favourite WAP site. More than 36,000 user sessions were recorded in a month, and the average session lasted 14 minutes. This made a valuable contribution to Breathe's revenue. …
