Matthew Hooper is chief executive of Interfocus. In 1982 he set up a corporate hospitality company. In the same year he joined Clarke Hooper (no relation) as a senior account handler. He moved to United Distillers 18 months later, leaving in October 1988 to create Interfocus with Sandy Scott. In 2000 Matthew became chairman at the SPCA.

Despite the frustration revealed in the writing content, this writer is no more stressed than usual. What is getting his goat regarding the builder situation he mentions is his inability to get them to do what he wants.

This writer is a controller, and when in a situation in which he can do nothing but go along, chewing the carpet is well nigh his only option.

Fiercely self-motivated to achieve and keep things on the move, this chap comes over as a bit of a dynamo. He works well with others and is very much a team player. He is able to interact with people on many levels, and one of his special abilities is to motivate and enthuse.
