Maxell Launches New Discs, Announces Product Integration

Maxell Corp. of America, a developer of computer storage media, has announced that it is adding new l0x CD-RW discs to its line of tape and disc storage media. Maxell has also announced it is bundling its 4.7-GB DVD-RAM discs with the new Integra DR-12 Digital Video Recorder from Sensormatic. The company also announced the release of its new CD-Rpro 700-MB discs.

10x CD-RW Discs

According to the company, the new Maxell High Speed CD-RW discs utilize advanced recording layer technologies that enable recording speeds of more than 1.5 MB/sec. and provide noise-free playback and superior overwrite capability. The advanced phase-change recording layer technologies also yield superior archival life and produce discs that are ideal for storing images, presentations, Internet downloads, and audio files.

"Maxell is well-known for supporting the full range of storage platforms and for providing the latest technologies as they are developed," said Rich Gadomski, Maxell's national marketing manager for branded computer products. "Our new High Speed CD-RW discs enhance that reputation."

The new High Speed Maxell CD-RW discs support recording speeds ranging from 4x to 10x on new high-speed drives. Available this month, the discs will carry a suggested retail price of $9.99 per three-pack.

DVD-RAM Disc

According to the announcement, the Sensormatic DR-12 provides high-capacity video recording for video surveillance applications.

In developing the new high-capacity DVD-RAM discs, Maxell utilized optical thermal simulation to optimize the crystallization and diffusion speed of the phase-changed recording layer. …
