Starbucks Shuffles Key UK and European Posts

Starbucks Coffee Company has promoted its UK marketing director and managing director to new European roles and made Johnson & Johnson marketer Cathy Heseltine its UK marketing chief.

The UK's number two coffee chain has made Helen Benedict, marketing director since April 1999, vice-president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

She will report to Mark McKeon, previously UK managing director, who becomes president of Starbucks in those territories, also a new position. A UK managing director to replace McKeon will be appointed shortly.

Heseltine joins from Johnson & Johnson Consumer, where she was franchise director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Before that, she was business development director for the Neutrogena brand in those areas. Johnson & Johnson bought Neutrogena while Heseltine was the brand's marketing director for northern Europe. Her career has also included stints at SmithKline Beecham and Kimberly-Clark.

Heseltine said the opportunity to work for Starbucks was irresistible. …
