Dear Readers,

Bipartisanship is filling the air as surely as well wishes during this high holiday season and into the third millennium. After so bitter a fight in the aftermath of the November election, it's about time politicians and the media frenzy that fuels the pols got into the spirit otherwise embracing our nation.

What brings this to mind is our thoughts about "tomorrow" -- as in, what will it bring for George W. Bush and our nation. As surely as Bill Clinton couldn't stop thinking about tomorrow eight years ago, neither can we stop the process of wondering where our new president will lead us and how and whether Congress will try to impede our progress. Already we hear in the hallways of power that plans are in place to thwart Bush. These are the last refuge of cry-baby Democrats whose hollow call for bipartisanship means only one thing: their agenda or nothing.

In this special double issue we've compiled a neat collection of stories about the future, how people try to predict it and what may lay in the cards, as well as a look back at earlier predictions and how they missed the mark. …
