Corporate America Must Rise in Support of Scouts

The ongoing attack on the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) by the gay and lesbian lobby and liberal media is only the latest salvo from the armies of the politically correct. Unfortunately, many corporate and business leaders have caved in to this gay-orchestrated pressure and turned against the Boy Scouts.

In fact, cowardice and moral confusion within the corporate walls of U.S. business and within large nonprofit organizations such as the United Way are likely far greater dangers to the Scouts than loss of easy access to government-owned facilities. Levi Strauss is one such company removing its funding and withdrawing its support for the Boy Scouts because the Scouts refuse to admit homosexuals to the organization. Many other corporate policymakers seriously are considering similar measures to punish the Scouts.

We have seen corporate giants such as AT&T and Procter & Gamble do likewise by pulling their ad dollars from the Dr. Laura Schlessinger Show after Dr. Laura simply stated some facts the gay and politically liberal community did not want to hear. And now this same gang of thugs has decided to take on the BSA because this great organization has strict guidelines which do not include homosexuals in scouting. Especially galling to gay activists was the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that the First Amendment rights of the BSA be upheld to exclude gays from leadership roles and participation as Scouts.

The BSA is about putting God first and then country. "Scouting builds character!" More than one-third of all Boy Scouts come from religious organizations such as the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, So we must ask, "Why aren't businesses across America taking their corporate responsibility and supporting this great organization?" Is it because they are afraid of the liberal media? Or perhaps because they have lost sight of what is true and just in America?

Homosexual activists were sending an unmistakable message to corporate sponsors of the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles when they jeered the Boy Scout color guard as it marched into the hall. Where were the corporate sponsors at the Democratic convention, such as United Airlines and AT&T? It's shocking that these two companies that are opposed to spending their ad dollars on Dr. Laura's show remain very quiet and behind the shadows of others when it's time to support the Boy Scouts. …
