Napster Sees Visits Increase as Users Seek to Beat Restrictions

The online music application Napster, which has been recently besieged by legal proceedings, has looked far less beleaguered in terms of the number of people visiting the site and the length of time they spend there.

The online Napster Application, where visitors can swap MP3 music files with other music fans, was one of the biggest winners on both accounts over the month from January to February this year.

Over the same period, a court ruling against the company was imminent, which would eventually result in them having to remove all copyrighted music available on the site. This warning may be one reason for the increase in use, as music fans logged on to download song titles before the restrictions were applied.

The largest increase in the amount of time spent on a single site goes to Ebay.co.uk, which saw visitors stay for an average of more than two hours in the month of February, an increase of almost an hour on the previous month.

This provides more good news for the Ebay group, which managed to oust QXL.com from the top of the UK auction category in January of this year and place Ebay. …
