Homebase E-Business Chief Leaves after Rejig

Homebase's managing director of e-commerce, Beatrice Lafon, has exited the DIY retailer after less than a year in the job. She is understood to have left the company without a job to go to.

Lafon's departure is part of a wider restructure at Homebase following its acquisition by Schroder Ventures in December and the arrival of new chief executive RobTempleman earlier this year.

Lafon joined Homebase last June from Kingfisher, where she had spent seven years working in strategic marketing. She was hired by then managing director Kate Swann, who has since moved to Argos as managing director.

Homebase marketing director Tim James has taken on Lafon's responsibilities. He will be charged with integrating more closely the marketing of Homebase's retail and e-commerce divisions. Lafon could not be contacted as Marketing went to press.

The company launched its online shopping operation, homebase.co.uk last year, offering a range of products and DIY-related advice. Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO handles advertising for the venture. …
