New Look Top Role Goes to Mothercare Marketer

New Look, the discount fashion retailer, has hired Mothercare marketer Jim Fraser to its top marketing post, ending a search that has lasted more than a year.

Fraser, who has been head of business development at Mothercare Direct, the company's home shopping arm, for the past six months, will become New Look's marketing director next month.

Reporting to managing director of operations Phil Wrigley, he will be responsible for developing a brand strategy to help the retailer reverse its recent profits slide.

Fraser, 39, will work closely with New Look's recently appointed ad agency HHCL & Partners, and could introduce its first TV ads (Marketing, March 22).

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to work for a brand with such tremendous potential," said Fraser, who spent three years at Mothercare's parent company, The Storehouse Group, including a stint in Bhs' corporate planning department.

New Look, which has 480 stores in the UK, floated on the stock market in 1998. …
