Good freelance writers are hard to find, but the Internet has made the task easier. Kathy Grayson, editor in chief of Customer Support Management, lists several sites: About.com--freelance writers (700 freelance sites); Writerswrite.com; and writing.org, among others. There's also the Magazine Writers' Network and the Writers' Exchange to explore. But if a blind search is scary or doesn't interest you, Grayson says there are other tried-and-true methods. Some include swapping freelance lists with other editors, recruiting writers from other publications, saving freelance resumes that come to you from other job ads, placing a "Request for Freelancers" on your Web site or in your publication, and asking freelancers who have worked for you and whom you like to recommend friends.
