Carry on, Couric! (and Does She Ever)

Pert and sassy Katie Couric has just celebrated 10 years as cohost of NBC's Today show, "where she has become nearly as much of a mouthpiece for liberal beliefs as her one-time sidekick, Bryant Gumbel," according to an assessment by the Media Research Center. Reviewing a few choice selections from a decade of carrying on, we note that Couric has been an obsessive Reagan-basher.

Couric observed that a few moves by former president Bill Clinton "probably were somewhat questionable," but that didn't justify the "piling on" by critics during his final days in office. "Why do you think that he doesn't get the credit for good news that's going on?," she asked Clintonista Tony Coelho, as if the Democratic former congressman might provide an honest answer. "And, if Reagan was the `Teflon president,' it seems like Bill Clinton is the `Velcro president' -- every piece of bad news just sticks to him."

Couric could hardly wait until the perfunctory greeting was uttered to launch into a find that made her day. …
