Honeywell But Changes Name To Reflect New Ownership and Directions

Honeywell Bull, Inc., has announced it is changing its name to Bull HN Information Systems, Inc. in a move designed to accurately reflect the company's new ownership and its strategic direction and technological alliances.

"The new name signifies the company's emergence as a distinct and identifiable worldwide competitor in information systems," said Roland Pampel, the company's president and chief executive officer.

The company will commonly refer to itself in its advertising, marketing material, signage, and logotype simply as Bull.

Together with Bull S.A., based in France, the two companies constitute Groupe Bull, a new worldwide force in information systems.

The "H" in the new name reflects the 19.9-percent interest of Honeywell, Inc. of Minneapolis in the company, and the "N" reflects the 15-percent interest of NEC Corporation of Japan in the company. Groupe Bull of France recently acquired an additional 22.6 percent of shares in Bull HN from Honeywell Inc., increasing Groupe Bull's interest to 65.1 percent.

"This marks the beginning of a new era in the company's growth as a unique multinational company which began in March 1987 as a joint venture among three international technology leaders," Pampel said.

"In partnership with Bull S.A., we now represent the ninth-largest computer company in the world and the first truly international partnership in the information systems industry," said Pampel.

"The move completes the formal establishment of Groupe Bull as "a global organization, composed of two companies sharing a common market vision, a common strategy, and a common goal. …
